VAST Data Reports $10B in 2026 Commitments From 14 AI Customers

Fourteen customers have committed more than $10 billion in aggregate to VAST Data software and supporting platform hardware in the first three quarters of VAST’s current fiscal year, according to the company. Each of the 14 has committed more than $100 million to VAST Data-powered system build-outs, and four of them have each committed more than $1 billion this year. VAST says the 14 are drawn from more than 1,000 companies it serves, and that VAST Data-powered systems now support nine of the top ten frontier AI labs. The company did not name the customers or break out the software and hardware shares of the commitments.

The second element is supply. VAST says it has structured agreements with supply chain partners to align more than 200 exabytes of flash capacity through 2029, citing the multi-year lead time required to bring new NAND fab capacity online and what it describes as extreme supply chain pressure. According to the company, the capacity its partners are delivering now represents a significant percentage of global NAND flash produced for enterprise data centers. VAST says the forward allocation maps to the growth outlook of its largest customers and is intended to support capacity planning for AI clouds, labs, enterprises and government organizations building on its platform.

The VAST AI OS is positioned as storage and database infrastructure for GPU and accelerator clusters used for AI training and inference. It runs on VAST’s DASE (Disaggregated, Shared-Everything) architecture and consolidates data services, compute services and agentic execution in a single software stack. The company frames the commitments as evidence of a broad rebuild of the AI stack around models and agents, with data at its center.

Key Developments: VAST Data AI Builder Commitments

COMMITMENTS • $10B+ aggregate from 14 customers Commitments for VAST software and supporting platform hardware in the first three quarters of the current fiscal year.

COMMITMENTS • 14 customers above $100M; four above $1B Each figure refers to VAST Data-powered system build-outs committed this year; customers not named.

AI LABS • 9 of the top 10 frontier AI labs VAST Data-powered systems now support nine of the top ten frontier AI labs, per the company; ranking basis not given.

SUPPLY • 200+ EB of flash aligned through 2029 Structured agreements with supply chain partners; suppliers, volumes by year and terms not disclosed.

STRATEGY • NAND supply for AI data centers VAST says its partners’ deliveries represent a significant percentage of global enterprise data center NAND output; no figure given.

PLATFORM • VAST AI OS on the DASE architecture Consolidates data, compute and agentic execution services for AI training and inference; customer base described as more than 1,000 companies.

“Planning for hundreds of exabytes isn’t only about protecting our customers’ growth projections,” said Jeff Denworth, Co-Founder of VAST Data. “It’s about keeping flash available to hundreds of clouds, so that every AI builder, not just the largest, has the capacity it needs to build and compete.”

The announcement is a demand-and-supply disclosure rather than a product launch: a concentration of large commitments among a small set of buyers, paired with a multi-year flash allocation. The concentration is notable, since 14 customers account for the $10B figure, and four for at least $4B of it. Because the commitments bundle software with supporting platform hardware, the figure is not comparable to software revenue or bookings, and VAST, as a private company, does not report audited results.

The 200 EB allocation reflects a structural constraint in AI infrastructure: NAND capacity additions require fab investment measured in years, and VAST is treating flash supply as a planning input alongside GPUs and power. The release does not name NAND or SSD suppliers, the year-by-year split, pricing terms or whether the agreements are binding, so the allocation’s effect on availability for other buyers cannot be assessed from the release.
